One of the questions that people are always asking me is, “Do you know it is bad to drink coffee every day?” As a coffee drinker, I tend to pay attention about what they have to say because you will always learn something new or probably think about quitting drinking coffee. In my case, I am not willing to quit drinking coffee for now.

Excess on everything can harm you, but coffee just like technology, has some benefits and disadvantages. There are some good reasons why we should drink coffee. In March 2007, the Department of Kinesiology, University of Georgia, (Athens, Georgia) published an article about how two cups of coffee can cut post-workout muscle pain by up to 48 percent.

Coffee also lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes, according to Dr. Frank Hu from the Nutrition and Epidemiology Department of Harvard. Anyone who consumed 6 or more cups of coffee per day had a 22 percent chance lower risk of diabetes. If you drink a cup daily, type 2 diabetes decreases by 9 percent and decaf coffee decreased the risk by 6 percent.

In 2004, A report from the World Health Organization estimates that every year 1.3 percent of total death worldwide is caused by liver cirrhosis. New research reveals that consuming coffee each day reduces the risk of death from liver cirrhosis by 66 percent.

Also, coffee reduces suicide risk and depression, according to a Harvard School of Public Health study found that depression risk decreases with increasing caffeinated coffee consumption. Women who drink 4 or more cups of coffee were 20 percent less likely to suffer from depression.

When it comes to energy drinks or energy boosts, people tend to compare Redbull to coffee and some would pick Redbull over coffee. The difference between coffee and Redbull is that coffee has caffeine without sugar, which makes it a winner. Coffee, in its natural form, is very abundant in antioxidants, which is generally considered good for your health.

On the other hand, RedBull has caffeine too but loaded with sugar (artificial sweetener, aspartame). Aspartame is a chemical product considered dangerous and very bad for your health. For some reason, according to the European Food Safety Authority, which concluded a review of more than 400 datasets from aspartame, they found there was no reason to remove it from the market even if it has a long history of controversy.

Redbull contains taurine which improves memory and concentration, but caffeine does the same thing. So whenever you feel the need for an energy boost or energy drink please go with coffee and skip those shiny little cans of energy drink, because in the long run it might take away some of your life energy.
