The past couple of years have been challenging for cinemas around the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the premieres of films have been postponed many times. Finally, the time has come for big premieres. More and more of the anticipated films will be released in the fall, and today we will show you which premieres you definitely do not want to miss in the cinema in September.
Recently, a novelty worthy of attention was released, fantastic thriller Reminiscence starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson. In post-apocalyptic Miami, Nick Bannister uses special technology to help people remember the forgotten. He’s seriously into May, his new client. When the woman suddenly disappears, Nick tries to find her at any cost. The screenwriter and director of the film debutant in big cinema was Lisa Joy. Previously, she worked on the famous TV series Westworld, and now she has dragged part of the successful team into her feature film.
Reminiscence was helped by Christopher Nolan’s brother, producer Jonathan Nolan. In the lead role, the director saw only Hugh Jackman. Miami of the future decided to flood, so the film crew spent most of the filming knee-deep in water. The film Reminiscence is a curious combination of fiction and noir. There is a detective line, a fatal beauty and a hero in a difficult situation. There is an original script, stellar actors, an impressive visual work, so there are plenty of reasons to watch this film on the big screen.
The next anticipated novelty was released on Sept. 3 this year under the name Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This is the first Marvel Studios film about an Asian superhero. The plot of the film is about the man Shang-Chi, who has been practicing martial arts since childhood in order to one day receive ten magic rings. The film will only receive a 45-day rolling window before debuting on the Disney streaming platform. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, all of the company’s films had a 90-day rolling window.
Another interesting novelty comes out on Sept. 17 called Cry Macho. The film was directed by Clint Eastwood in the neo-Western genre, and he also plays the main role. The main character, Mike, is a former famous rodeo participant who faced the hard blows of life. Because of the difficulties, he fell into depression and drenches his grief with alcohol. One day, an investor offers Mike either to quit the job or return his son, who lives with his ex-wife in Mexico. The journey gives the protagonist a new meaning in life.
Another expected premiere will also be released on Sept. 17. The Eyes of Tammy Fay, a biographical drama, was directed by Michael Showalter and is based on the 2000 full-length documentary of the same name about the life of Tammy Fay, an American Christian singer, evangelist, entrepreneur, author and TV show host. The film tells the story of the rise, fall and remorse of TV evangelists Tammy Fay Bakker and her husband Jimmy Bakker. They builtaround themselves a powerful empire for making money, which collapsed after a series of scandals and machinations. The leading roles are played by famous actors Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield.
