After what has seemed like an eternity for fans of the ‘80’s-era sci-fi series, Netflix’s Vice President of Original Programming, Cindy Holland, has confirmed that season three of “Stranger Things” will be released in the Summer of 2019, saying however that the delay “will be well worth the wait.”

According to Holland, “it’s a hand crafted show and The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard… and want to deliver something bigger and better than they did last year. They want to take the time to get it right. I think it will be a fantastic season and will be worth the wait.”

It looks like we won’t be seeing much of Eleven and the gang anytime soon, but we can be reassured that “Stranger Things” season three will be coming back from the Upside Down. As of Nov. 10, the shows’ character Chief Hopper, played by David Harbour, confirmed that he had finished filming and that he was looking forward to shaving off his mustache.

Warning: Season Three Spoiler Alert! According to the Duffy Brothers and Shawn Levy, season three will have all of the main original cast on board and daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, Maya Thurman-Hawke, will join the gang as Robin, a new character who uncovers a “dark secret” in Hawkins.

Another unexpected twist: Lucas’ wisecracker sister is set to play a much larger role. In a Netflix release, season three will see her embark on a “wild mission to save Hawkins from a dangerous and unexpected new threat.”

And the mystery just keeps on coming. A recent interview with The Duffer Brothers suggests that the Upside Down monsters will likely still be in the picture.

“They’ve shut the door on the Mind Flayer, but not only is it still there in the Upside Down, it’s very much aware of the kids’, especially Eleven.”

Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter “It had not encountered her and her powers until that final episode. Now it knows that she’s out there. We wanted it to end on a little bit of an ominous note.”

Thinking back on season two, it also seems extremely likely that the shows’ fans haven’t seen the last of Eleven’s “sister”, Kali, known in the show as Eight. Her appearance ended with the super powered illusionist escaping the police at the end of episode seven and seemingly still determined on taking Eleven on a mission of vengeance against the men who wronged them.

In fact, given how abruptly her story ends, fans wouldn’t be surprised if Kali and her “warrior-esque” gang returned to Hawkins to cause trouble in season three.

With her mind-bending powers and team of rogues, she could cause a lot of damage. Plus – what of numbers 1-7, 9-10 and beyond?

So, “Stranger Things” fans, it looks like there is much to look forward to as season three makes its way from the Upside Down to the Netflix streaming service in the summer of 2019. Until then, hang tight! Following the publication of this article, according to the shows’ star Finn Wolfhard, Stranger Things Season 3 will make its debut from the Upside Down on July, 2019.
