Student Publications Wins Multiple Awards at State Conference

During the 62nd Annual Florida College Systems Press Association (FCSPA) Conference held in Tampa from March 31 to April 2, student publications won several awards.

The Observer student newspaper won the following awards: Third place, Editorial, Jessica Kladerman and Arianna Allen; first place, feature story, Camellia Baki; and first place, sports column, Ryan Marin. Panku won the following awards: first place, non-fiction, Christa Hopkins (Spring 2021); first place artwork, Ainhoa Lasso (Spring 2021); first place contents page, Kristin Alcorn (Spring 2021); second place, general excellence; second place, poem, Nemeche Blake (Fall 2020); second place, artworks, Mikael Semexant, Antonio Smith, Maria Jose Berru (Spring 2021); second place, contents page, Kristin Alcorn (Fall 2020); third place, poem, Shirleen Groves (Spring 2021); third place, artwork, Ellana Sunshine (Fall 2020); third place, two-page spread design (Spring 2021).

During the conference, students had the chance to participate in a variety of workshops such as storytelling and investigative journalism as well as networking opportunities.
