Samhain!

Samhain is a Gaelic Pagan Holiday that celebrates the end of the Harvest season and the beginning of Winter. It’s a midpoint between Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice. This is a celebration that focuses its intent on rejoicing in the Harvest and eating as a ritual. When you are celebrating Samhain, you tend to eat food items that are reflective of the harvest. It’s a beautiful way to connect with Earth and follow the natural crop cycle. For this October, I have put together a Witches Samhain Board to celebrate this passage.

Ingredients:

  • 10 figs
  • ½ cup dried apricots
  • 1 package of whole wheat grain toasts with dried fruits
  • 2 Eggplants
  • 1 Bunch of grapes (I used Moon grapes and they were delicious)
  • Sweet Peppers
  • Pomegranate Seeds
  • Purple potatoes
  • Tiny Mozzarella balls
  • Feta Cheese
  • Blackberries

Preparation:

  1. Boil potatoes to the point the knife slides outs, cut them in half and place them in baking sheet, add Eggplants.
  2. Season both with 1tbs garlic powder, salt, 1tbsp olive oil (drizzle both potatoes and eggplants) and ½ tbsp white pepper. Bake for 45 minutes.
  3. Arrange white cheese pieces in the same of the moon and from there arrange other items for contrast.

Place a saying over the food and make it into a celebration. You can close the saying with  I am one with the Moon, so I trust, as above, so below.
