“Together, #WeAreMusic.” The Grammys have lived and breathed this quote for a whopping 61 years and will continue to do so as wonderful new talent breeds into the industry. 

The Grammy awards presented by the Recording Academy are a token of recognition and celebration of the greatness and deep accomplishments in a variety of categories. 

The 61st Grammy Award Ceremonies congratulates music from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018, as well as the musical flames of autumn 2017 through summer 2018. 

Some key awards for the 61st Grammy Awards show: 

Best Rap Song: Drake “God’s Plan”

Best Rap Album: Cardi B Invasion of Privacy

Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording: Dua Lipa

Best R&B Song: Ella Mai- Boo’d Up

Best R&B Album: H.E.R. H.E.R. 

Best Song Written: Lady Gaga “Shallow”

Best Pop Vocal Album: Ariana Grande Sweetener 

Best Gospel Song – Never Alone Tori Kelly ft. Kirk Franklin

Did You Know?

The Grammy award is a gilded Gramophone made of Grammium. 

To submit work for a Grammy you must register with the Recording Academy first. Students need to be in a music course full-time. Active professionals need 2 recommendation letters from fellow music industry peers and a minimum of 6 musical credits for musical tracks/works. 

There is a Grammy Award for Spoken Word and Poetry, and 3 US Presidents have won them so far.

The Grammys seek to elevate and recognize self-expression through music. The Recording Academy soars beyond recognizing chart numbers. 

The Grammys dives deep into the essence of being a creator. The Grammys promotes finding one’s voice within music and expressing it freely. 

These artists have achieved a significant milestone in their journey of composing and producing their true life’s work.
