“Black Panther” is the newest, highly anticipated Marvel movie in the franchise. It has made record-breaking history for all that it is, and the positive ratings and reviews do not lie.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, “Black Panther” tells the story of Prince T’Challa taking on the role of the Black Panther, and the new King of Wakanda.

The film follows after the death of T’Challa’s father, King T’Chaka, which occurred in “Captain America: Civil War.”

In the Marvel Universe, the African country of Wakanda is significant because of its possession of Vibranium, the strongest metal on Earth. The Black Panther is known as the strongest warrior of Wakanda who possesses super abilities.

This film has received a never before seen anticipation and appraisal from critics and audiences alike. This is mainly because of its underlying significance of black empowerment, women empowerment, and diversity.

The film starts with T’Challa, played by Chadwick Boseman, returning to Wakanda to take on the role of King and Black Panther. Although he is appointed to the throne due to his lineage, the other tribes have the right to battle him for the throne.

Meanwhile, an old foe, Klaue is up to no good doing what he does best– stealing and selling Vibranium. Klaue has teamed up with Killmonger, played by Michael B. Jordan, on the Vibranium heist… but Killmonger has ulterior motives.

The film is filled with action, drama, and beautiful imagery.

The characters are captivating and we learn a lot about each one throughout the development of the story. The characters’ motives and morals are clearly shown and audiences will find themselves rooting for a side.

We also learn a lot about the fictional country of Wakanda and what it means to be a Wakandan. Each tribe is distinct with their values and visual representation. We learn that Wakanda is rich with culture and resources.

“Black Panther” has received a lot of praise and attention due to it being focused on a superhero from an African country. The film is made up of a primarily black cast and was directed by a black director.

These features have touched audiences, especially black audiences, encouraging them to support the film.

Women empowerment is also a significant aspect of the film because of the strong female roles. The Dora Milaje is the honorable group of female warriors who serve the throne.

T’Challa’s younger sister, Shuri, is the head of technology and the mastermind behind all of the cool gadgets seen throughout the movie.

Coogler did not fall short or disappoint with this film.

He executed the story and expresses the characters in a way that captivates audiences and critics. Coogler also conveyed the messages of honor and the importance of having morals, which sincerely resonates with viewers.

  1. It’s not just a good black movie, it’s a damn good movie. The racial aspect aside, this was just so well-done. Shuri was such a great character, especially being such a young one. The dynamics between her and her big brother, the king, were awesome. I wish the movie had been longer, I wasn’t ready for it to be over!
